About Me

I am Amanda Ranae and I really, REALLY love coffee. Actually, I love coffee and people. It really astounds me that coffee cherries are harvested by coffee farmers (often by hand) and processed in its country of origin, then the processed green coffee beans come to us with all its internal potential, ready to be roasted and discovered and enjoyed by those far, far away from its origin. There are infinite factors that can determine the flavor notes you taste in that coffee. Factors such as: the type of coffee plant, the climate and elevation in the country of origin, the various processing methods used, the numerous decisions roasters get to make, the copious grinding methods and various extraction opportunities employed in the brewing process. Honestly, it is amazing to me how much effort goes into one simple cup of coffee. Just think of the journey that coffee took to get to your cup! Let’s just take a moment to appreciate that. Literally a host of people contribute to that coffee getting to you. It has been my genuine privilege to be included in this structure for over 20 years. Initially, as a barista, crafting espresso-based beverages professionally and more recently as a home roaster, guiding the green coffee through it’s stages of development to its fulfillment.
